Zest supports Dementia UK in latest charity initiative

Timber garden furniture, grow your own and decorative garden structure specialist, Zest is sharing an update on its massive commitment to fundraising for charitable causes with visitors to its stand 20D30-E31 at Glee.

As part of the P&A Group, the brand this year is supporting Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nurse charity as the company’s charity of the year for 2023 after a vote by employees.  Dementia UK is the only charity that provides specialist dementia nurse support through its Admiral Nurse service.  In just one of many challenges, a team of 14 employees are set to tackle the Three Peaks Challenge on June 30th and July 1st to raise money.

The team will travel from North Wales to Ben Nevis in Scotland on 30th June with the aim of reaching the summit that evening. They will then proceed to Scafell Pike in the Lake District before finishing up at Snowdon in Wales on Saturday 1st July. The aim is to complete all three peaks in less than 24 hours.  This will be a distance of approximately 23 miles with a total ascent of 3,064 metres, with a challenging fundraising target of £6,000 for this event.

Dementia UK is the latest in a series of high profile and also locally based charities being backed by Zest.  Over the last 13 years, Zest employees have raised more than £145,000 for a variety of charities alongside colleagues in the P&A Group.  These include the British Heart Foundation, Macmillan Cancer Support, Hope House and Tŷ Gobaith Children’s Hospices, Cancer Research UK, Action for Children, Alzheimer’s Society, Alder Hey Children’s Hospital and Meningitis Now.

Steve Morgan, Zest’s Managing Director said: “Raising money for charity is very important to all employees.  We’ve already had numbers of people sign up for a variety of different fundraising events. From bake sales, bingo nights and personal fitness challenges to fancy dress events, and quiz nights.  We hope to beat this year’s £10,000 fundraising target.”

Zest was established in 2005 to bring high quality, sustainable timber garden products to garden centres, online retailers, builders’ merchants, and major purchasing groups across the UK.  For further information about Zest’s GYO, decorative and furniture products, visit www.zestoutdoorliving.co.uk/trade
