Cherry Lane acquires Langford Garden Centre

Value garden centre group, Cherry Lane, has today, Friday 26th March, acquired Langford Nurseries & Garden Centre in Bedfordshire,, taking their group of garden centres to 15.

Langford Nurseries & Garden Centre is located on Henlow Road, Langford. The acquisition, the latest in Cherry Lane’s strategy of ongoing expansion, brings the group total to 15 garden centres across East Anglia, Yorkshire and the Midlands.

Nick Rubins, Chief Executive of the QD Group which owns Cherry Lane, said: “The latest acquisition of Langford Garden Centre is another step in the ongoing growth and success of Cherry Lane. The centre is in a great location which is situated in the heart of our region and we are very pleased to welcome the team from Langford Garden Centre, many of whom have worked there for 30+ years and have outstanding gardening knowledge and expertise. As a family run business, we look forward to continuing the centre’s rich history of serving the local community and to introducing our great value, excellent quality and ever-changing spectacular new deals.”

The garden centre, which currently employs 28 members of staff, will be known as Langford Garden Centre by Cherry Lane. All staff will be retained and Cherry Lane hopes to expand the team by recruiting a number of additional staff in the near future. The garden centre manager is Wayne Roberts, who is the current manager and will remain in this role.

Cherry Lane will be working to introduce a number of key improvements and developments to the garden centre and café over the next few months. It aims to enhance customer enjoyment and experience of the great value and quality of products with new departments being added, including outdoor living and furniture such as solar lighting, water features and barbecues, not to mention indoor furnishings and homewares, plus a brand new pet department under Cherry Lane’s Scallywags brand. Cherry Lane is continuing the garden centre’s well-established plant growing operation, which will work alongside the group’s existing three nursery operations located across the country. The garden centre will remain open to customers throughout the improvement works.

Langford Garden Centre by Cherry Lane is located on Henlow Road, Langford, Beds SG18 9SD. For more information, visit www.cherry-lane.co.uk.
