A right royal Chelsea
Exclusive GTN Bestsellers garden centre Epos data analysis

The Queen’s visit to the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, gave gardening a boost of positive media attention this week and your planteria staff will no doubt be getting requests for the regal red and purple flowered plants that stood out amongst the bright whites and lush green foliage of the show gardens.

Overall sales volumes in the GTN Bestsellers database were static week on week compared with 2021 when sales dipped in the third week of May. Another week like that in the run up to the Jubilee and sales for the month could still reach parity with last year.

At Chelsea, Bramblecrest reported good levels of sales and we’ve had reports from centres who said they had a burst of pre-Jubilee outdoor leisure purchasing.

In the background the GTN team are very busy getting ready for Glee, with compilation of the Glee Daily News, the Glee publications and entries for the Glee New Product Showcase. Judging by the entries we’ve already seen for Glee 2022, the first in June, it could well be a vintage year for innovation in our market. We look forward to seeing you there.
