As the country wrapped up against the snow and freezing conditions over the weekend of Garden Re-Leaf and Mother's Day, garden centres throughout the land were encouraged by an increase in buying activity in their stores.
Vitax helps to deliver a lasting future for The National Forest
Leicestershire-based Vitax has dug deep to help the environment by planting over 450 trees which will contribute towards creating three hectares of new woodland in The National Forest.
Vitax invited staff, suppliers and customers to pick up their spades to transform an area in Normanton Le Heath.
Around 40 people attended the event which forms part of Vitax’s three-year sponsorship agreement with the National Forest Company to help plant around 6,000 trees, including oak, silver-birch, hornbeam and wild cherry.
Paul Gooding, chairman at Vitax, says: “The event was a great chance for us to celebrate our commitment to the sponsorship. It is important for us to show our support towards the work of The National Forest and through planting trees we can not only promote the charity to our customers but it also boosts team morale.
“We are pleased to be playing our part in restoring the woodland in the UK and I’m sure there will be a few aching limbs tomorrow”.
Covering 200 square miles in the heart of England, The National Forest is maturing as the boldest environmentally-led regeneration project undertaken in the UK.
