DHA Planning say they have secured planning permission for a new garden centre at Notcutts existing site at Pembury, Tunbridge Wells.
The new garden centre will comprise a single bespoke building, attached canopy plant display area and parking for 200 cars. The scheme will rationalise development across the site, replacing the current collection of outdated buildings and structures.
The new centre totals around 40,000sqft, which represents a 10,000sqft increase in built development – a significant achievement in a Green Belt location.
Tunbridge Wells Borough Council accepted that a case of Very Special Circumstances was enough to outweigh Green Belt policy objections by their Planning Committee in June 2011.
Approval was secured without use of a S106 Legal Agreement or reference to the Secretary of State for potential call in.
