Westland Horticulture have reported profits of £2.93m for the year to 31 August 2016, on sales of £127.7m.

This compares to profits of £4.09m for the eight months to 30 August 2015, when sales of £96.6m were reported.

The Westland board said the result was satisfactory but there was potential for growth in fertilisers and growing media markets.

Westland bought William Sinclair Horticulture from the administrators in summer 2015, with employee numbers rising from 425 to 590. Sinclairs had previously employed 270 staff.
