Haskins appoints new board members

With further expansion in its sights, Haskins Garden Centres Ltd has added two more board members to the existing team comprising of Chairman Warren Haskins, Chief Executive Julian Winfield and Buying Director Conna Powles.

Lisa Looker, who has been Director of Marketing  for three years and the recently appointed Finance Director Glenn Carroll join the board as £31.6 million turnover family owned company plans to increase its number of garden centres from the current four south coast based centres to six and redeveloped it Snowhill centre near Crawley.

Julian Winfield says that the company is now prepared to tackle the next phase of expansion.

“We are now well placed to make the largest investment yet in the company’s 133 year history.  Glenn Carroll brings with him a wealth of experience from various sectors of commerce and industry and Lisa Looker has brought new professionalism to the way marketing, promotions, also innovations to our point of sale which is appreciated by customers.”

It was in 1993 when Warren Haskins sold the original Haskins Garden Centre and purchased a brownfield site in Dorset where one of the first purpose built garden centres was constructed.

Since then, the successful formula has been repeated at West End, Southampton and most recently Roundstone near Worthing where in 2012 the centre was rebuilt for £13 million complete with a 550 seat restaurant.
