February plant sales grew back to 2019 levels despite the storms in the middle of the month. In the GTN Bestsellers Epos data the volume of plants sold in February 2022 was up by 50% on 2021 levels, when we were still in Lockdown #3 and up by 27% on February 2020 when storms also affected plant sales.
The prospect for March is interesting with Mothers Day at the end of the month. Have you been offered plants stocks fmr Holland at greatly reduced prices yet? It appears that due to the war in Ukraine, surplus stocks that would have been destined for Ukraine and Russia are now being offered to retailers in the UK and Europe.
After the week of storms this year, plant sales bounced back big time, up by 136% on the previous week. At the top of the chart sales of both Primua and Narcissus both doubled and planty of plant groups trebled or quadrupled sales.
Primula remain the No 1 Bestselling plant of the season, last week selling 42% of the GTN Top 50 plants volume.
Rose sales almost quadrupled to climb 13 places up the chart to No 18.
Calibrachoa were the highest placed re-entry, back in the GTN Top 50 at No 17.
