GARDENA takes on Yorkshire Three Peaks for charity

GARDENA challenged their UK team to take on the Yorkshire Three Peaks, a demanding 24 mile walk to summit Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, all while carrying 5L of water.

Bringing together colleagues from across the business, the challenge highlighted the power of teamwork, determination and a shared commitment to making a difference. Participants supported one another throughout the demanding trek, demonstrating the collaborative spirit that sits at the heart of GARDENA's culture.

The challenge was undertaken to raise money in support of UNICEF’s WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene) programmes. These programmes help to provide safe water, sanitation and hygiene services for children and communities in more than 100 countries around the world.

Through flexible funding, GARDENA has been supporting UNICEF’s work for children since 2018, helping to deliver programmes where they are needed most, helping children, families, and communities thrive.

Around the world, UNICEF works with governments, communities and partners to improve access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene for children. Programmes have, for example, improved water, sanitation and hygiene services in healthcare facilities across Mozambique, expanded sustainable access to clean water and sanitation in rural communities in Nepal and improved access to water, sanitation and hygiene facilities for thousands of schoolchildren in Cambodia.

GARDENA are passionate about making a positive difference both within the gardening industry and the wider community - growing futures, one drop at a time.

Sarah Bentham, UK Marketing Manager, said: "Carrying 5L of water throughout the trek allowed the team to reflect on the importance of access to safe water and the challenges faced by children and families who lack it. We're incredibly proud of the team's achievement and grateful for the support we've received so far.

"There's still time to help us make an even bigger difference."

GARDENA invites colleagues, customers and industry partners to support the fundraising effort in support of UNICEF's work delivering safe water, sanitation and hygiene services to vulnerable communities worldwide.
