Taylors to supply daffs for Champions League Final

Safely stowed in the cold store waiting for their cup final appearance next weekend, the thousands of daffodils grown by Taylors Bulbs for the Champions League Final.
Adam Taylor told GTN Xtra: "We were approached by the florist for the event who wanted daffodils to be a prominent part of their arrangements given that the final is being held in the National Stadium of Wales, Cardiff. Through contacts within the industry, they had heard of our exploits in growing daffodil flowers for Gloriana, the barge that led the Diamond Jubilee Pageant on the Thames on 3rd June 2012."
"Given our experience of getting daffodils in flower for the Chelsea Flower Show, we felt confident that we could repeat the feat and have flowers for the Champions League Final exactly 5 years later, on Saturday 3rd June."
"The biggest challenge, as we so often face for Chelsea as well, is having the classic yellow daffodil, the same type as the national flower of Wales. They are more often the earlier flowering daffodils and the later and, therefore, more heat resistant varieties tend to be white. You can see there is plenty of yellow in store but also plenty of others for filling the arrangements and as back-ups just in case!"
"The flowers make their way to London on Wednesday and we hope for kinder temperatures than the Gold Medal daffodils at Chelsea have had to endure this week. We have had to change the stand 3 times this week and it has been soul destroying for Johnny to watch the flowers wilt in the heat as the week progressed."
