Novel bio-ethanol barbecue fuel unveiled at BBC show

A novel non-toxic and eco-friendly BBQ lighter was launched at the BBC’s Gardener’s World  Live last week.

Cardiff-based manufacturers BCB International Ltd have developed the world’s first solid bio-ethanol fuel, called ‘FireDragon’.

Following extensive research and development, laboratory and field trials, the UK Ministry of Defence adopted the ‘FireDragon’ fuel. Shoppers will now be able to get their hands on the newly-launched retail range.

BCB’s MD Andrew Howell says ‘FireDragon’ is cleaner than most traditional domestic barbecue lighters on the market.

The range includes solid and gel variants, supplied in attractive and easy to use packs and pouches.

“Our ‘FireDragon’ fuel delivers a premium performance,” Howell said.  “It is non-toxic, eco-friendly, all-weather and provides a quicker, cleaner burn too. It is so clean that it can double as an anti-bacterial hand cleanser, making it safer to handle.

Fire Dragon was demonstrated at Gardener’s World Live by the chef and expert barbecue Ben Bartlett. “I have worked with many firelighting fuels over the years, they come second best to FireDragon,” he said.
