August serves up a treat for garden centre sales

The first week of August sees the fifth week in a row where garden centre sales have been up on last year, an average of 18% up, according to GTN Bestsellers.

After speaking with a number of centres much of that increase is credited to the changeable, but more bearable weather. This has been encouraging more people to eat in garden centre restaurants – remember last summer many restaurants were unbearable for weeks, and that resultant increase in footfall is driving the increased sales.
