Hare Hatch Sheeplands sold to The Gardening Club

Specialist business property adviser Christie & Co has announced the sale of Hare Hatch Sheeplands, a popular garden centre located between Reading, Maidenhead and Henley-on-Thames.

At 8.88 acres, Hare Hatch Sheeplands is one of the largest freehold garden centres to have come to the market in recent years. Aside from plant sales the site is also home to a farm shop and café, and the centre is much loved by the local community, acting as a meeting point for residents of nearby Wargrave and Twyford.

Hare Hatch Sheeplands has been owned and operated by Rob Scott for many years. The centre has been sold to Colin Roberts to remain as a garden centre and become part of The Gardening Club, who also operate out of Crews Hill in Enfield. Hare Hatch will be rebranded The Gardening Club at Hare Hatch.

Tom Cook, Managing Director of The Gardening Club, comments: "With new stock arriving and exciting changes on the horizon, I am confident that we will create a vibrant and thriving environment that both our team and customers will love.  We are concentrating on getting the plant area and garden shop ready for Spring followed by a revamp of the farm shop.  In turn each part of the site will be enhanced and improved to make it fit for the next 30 years."

Tom Glanvill, Director at Christie & Co, said: “I am delighted to have completed the sale of this business and am very confident that The Gardening Club team will drive it forward and fill it with top quality stock. Garden centres have benefitted from an excellent start to spring, and Christie & Co as the leading business transfer agents in the garden centre market have also had an exceptional start to the year with many more sales in the pipeline.”
