Prompt needed to push Wild Bird Care sales

The one area we’d have expected to see growth in due to the cold weather was Wild Bird Care, but that wasn’t the case last week. Sales were down 7% on the previous week and 21% down on the same week in 2019. BBC’s Springwatch starts on May 25th so perhaps that will be the big prompt to encourage gardeners, old and new, to feed their garden birds and encourage wildlife.

Highlights of the week were:

  • RHS Mealworms, 500g, were the highest Wild Bird Care chart new entry, in at No 14, joining the RHS Suet Balls,  which remain at No 1 in the GTN Top 50.
  • Westland Peckish Complete 2kg was the highest re-entry at No 10.
  • Gardman Co-Co Fat Feeders moved furthest up the chart from No 33 to No 5.
