Consumer deadline for disposal of Provado Lawn Grub Killer
Garden retailers are being urged to inform customers that they must dispose of the banned Provado Lawn Grub Killer by this weekend's deadline...
“To arrange disposal of Provado Lawn Grub Killer retailers can contact their distributor to arrange collection or to get more information,” explained Alison Mulvaney, product manager at Bayer Garden.
“Retailers can also contact the Bayer Garden customer services team on 01223 226507, who will be able to help if they have not been contacted already.”
Following the EU decision to suspend the use of the neonicotinoid imidacloprid, Provado Lawn Grub Killer was withdrawn from retailers’ shelves since end of September. Gardeners must use or dispose of the product by the end of November.
“Safe disposal of the product is very important and so if retailers are asked by consumers for help they can refer them to the Crop Protection Association’s website, www.gardenchemicaldisposal.co.uk,” concluded Alison Mulvaney.
Neither the UK’s number one bug control product Provado Ultimate Bug Killer nor Provado Vine Weevil Killer are included in this withdrawal as they contain an entirely new generation insecticide, thiacloprid. This active ingredient is a completely different sub class to imidacloprid and is considered to have a good profile for bees.
