Positive start to March for garden centre sales

 

Gardening and plant sales continued at unprecedented levels during the first week of March, according to garden centre Epos data analysed by GTN Bestsellers.

 

The GTN Bestsellers All Products Index of items sold was up by 93% on the same week last year and 81% up on the average for the first week of March over the previous 10 years. The corresponding week in 2018 saw the Beast from the East striking hard, and this year’s sales for the same week were up by 367% in comparison.

 

Plant sales performed even better, in terms of percentage growth year on year. The GTN Bestsellers All Plants Index was up by 170% taking the year-to-date position of plant sales to being up year on year by 32%.

  • Garden Products Top 50 – up 127%
  • Growing Media Top 50 – up 132%
  • Veg-2-Gro Top 50 – up 226%
  • Wild Bird & Wildlife Top 50 – up 2%
