Ex-garden centre manager arrested on suspicion of fraud
Stuart Clancy, a Norfolk district councillor and former general manager of Taverham Garden Centre, is being investigated by police on suspicion of fraud and false accounting.
Mr Clancy, a Conservative councillor at Broadland District Council, was arrested earlier this week. He is deputy leader of the council and economic development portfolio holder, and also the Norfolk County councillor for Taverham. A spokesman for Norfolk police said that he had been bailed until the beginning of November. A spokesman for Broadland district council said: “This investigation is not connected in any way with council activities. In the circumstances, there is no reason we know of that would require a councillor to cease council-related work or responsibilities. We are aware that there is a police investigation in progress and while it is being carried out it would be inappropriate to comment further at this time.”
