The zonal pelargonium 'Brocade Fire Night' presented by Dümmen Orange from Rheinberg (pictured on cover page) was voted best new Bedding and Balcony Plant at IPM Essen this week.

A graceful ornamental foliage plant with enchanting single red-orange flowers, it is easy-care since the flowers drop few petals and has compact, well-branching growth that makes it interesting for consumers and producers alike. Its retro style is regarded as trnedy.

In the shrubs category, the winning entry was the Helleborus Gold Collection ®Ice N‘Roses® (Helleborus x glandorfii) presented by Heuger Gartenbaubetriebe from Glandorf. The large flowers, the reliable flower base and early flowering combined the best properties of Christmas roses, lenten roses and black hellebores for the first time. Pictured right.
