Autumn plants start selling during July

Whilst overall plant sales dropped week-on-week, as we would expect for the last week of July, over half of the plant genus groupings in the GTN Bestsellers Plants Top 50 Chart increased their sale.

Included in that are a number of traditional autumn plants that are selling through early. 6 packs of Pansies increased sales volumes to move Pansies up to be the No 7 bestseller while 12 packs of Violas helped them re-enter the chart at No 28.

Cyclamen sales started in earnest this week in 10.5cm pots to enter the chart at No 20.

Summer plants looking colourful and selling well include Echinacea which moved up 23 places to No 27.  Echinacea Chunky Purple, in 2 litre pots, from Wyevale Nurseries leads the way in this genus.

Strong sales of 1 litre Gazanias see them increase overall volume by 167% to move up 15 places to No 12 and the Hillier Nurseries Buzz range of Buddleja sold high volumes to allow the genus to enter the Top 50 for the first time at No 41.
