After Mother’s Day the cold weather seriously affected trade and garden centre sales dipped to below even last year’s levels. Remember it was the second Easter week but the ‘Beast from the East’ still had its grips on gardens that were undiggable.
Perhaps we should name this spell of colder Easterly weather as the ‘Pest from the East’. It’s stopping some people from getting outside but not deterring the keen gardener.
The Met Office is forecasting that temperatures should rise to average, turning locally rather warm in the south and west in the run up to Easter.
Let’s hope they are right and that April sales run up year on year for the rest of the month.
