The 52nd Fleuroselect Annual Convention takes place in the UK

The Burpee Europe team were proud to be on hand to help organise the 52nd Fleuroselect Annual Convention which was held in the United Kingdom on 3rd to 6th July 2023.

On Mon 3rd July over 100 people came together at Stoke By Nayland Resort. At the informal dinner the guests were treated to a presentation overview of the hotel’s sustainability programme, as well as introductions from Karol Pawlak, President of Fleuroselect and Simon Crawford Chair Home Gardening B.U.

Tuesday morning there was a visit to Mr Fothergill’s where there was a guided tour around the facility as well as the chance for delegates to walk round the trial gardens.  After this the guests departed for RHS Hyde Hall which provided the lovely venue for the Fleuroselect AGM.  Delegates were then offered a guided tour round the vegetable and herb trials and culminated in a visit to Peter Seabrook’s inspired Floral Fantasia.  The evening ended with a meal at the Hyde Hall’s Hilltop Lodge, with entertainment from Morris Dancers...how very British!

Wednesday started with a thought provoking lecture by Fergus Garrett on Colour and Bio-Diversity in the garden and his transformation of the garden at Great Dixter   The convention then moved to Floranova with a visit to their impressive trial grounds and concluded with dinner at Priory Hall where the Fleuroselect gold medal winners were awarded, including Burpee Europe for the Sunflower 'Desire Red'.

Outgoing Chairman Karol Pawlak was thanked for his stewardship of the organisation.  Elisabeth Sahin was awarded for her services to the plant industry
Our very own Simon Crawford was awarded a Commerative Spade for work on organising the conference.

The evening ended in the hotel with everyone dancing the night away at the after party.
