Glitter, jingly bells, a giant Santa, and more scratchy sleeves than you can shake a candy cane at, The Most Jumperful Time of Year – where two brave souls don festive jumpers throughout the month of December – has now come to an end, and this year’s wearers are pleased to report that more than £7,000 has been raised for the Greenfingers Charity.
Linda Petrons, Greenfingers’ very own Fundraising and Communications Director, and Tammy Woodhouse from Millbrook Garden Centres, enjoyed 25 jumpers per piece, wearing them to all and any events, including business meetings, fundraising events and at home. With no escape from the festive cheer, they called upon friends, family and colleagues to donate to the fundraising total, which has now tipped over £7,000!
Linda Petrons said: “’The Most Jumperful Time’ is a really fun way to raise funds for Greenfingers, though some days it can be somewhat itchy! Since its launch in 2020, we’ve been consistently heartened by the support people have shown and how, weirdly, people are actually willing to wear the jumpers all in the name of charity. The biggest thank you goes out to those who donated and kindly sponsored daily jumpers. Your generosity and added support each day by wearing your own jumpers has made an enormous difference in helping to make this annual activity a real highlight in our fundraising calendar.”
Since 2020, when ‘The Most Jumperful’ was launched by Natalie Porter, the event has raised over £20,000 for the Greenfingers Charity. With the 2024 event on the distant horizon, it now falls to Chris Moncrieff, RHS Head of Information and Advice, and Kimberley Hornby, owner of the garden specialist PR agency Hornby George PR, to take on the mantel of jumper wearers extraordinaire.
