Thames walkers raise over £7,000 for Greenfingers on Garden Re-Leaf Day


Twenty eight intrepid members of the garden industry took part in the Thames Walk, a 20 mile fundraising walk from Ruxley Manor Garden Centre to Clifton Nurseries in Paddington, West London.

After a hearty breakfast served by the team at Ruxley Manor the walkers set off on their journey just before 8:30 am with the final walkers reaching their destination just after 5:30pm.  Their route took them over Blackheath Common, past the Cutty Sark, under the Greenwich Foot Tunnel to the Isle of Dogs, past Canary Wharf, along the Thames to the Tower of London, over The Millenium Bridge, along the South Bank, past the Houses of Parliament and Buckingham Palace then accross Hyde Park to Paddington.



As we publish this issue of GTN Xtra the total raised by the walkers have raised over £7,000 via their Just Giving pages.  There is still time for you to make a donation via one of the links below.  Walk organiser, Matthew Mein of Glee told GTN Xtra at the start he was hoping a total in excess of £10,000 would be raised as a result of everyones walking efforts.

Special thanks go to Ruxley Manor Garden Centre for the breakfast start, The Guoman Tower Hotel for allowing the support vehicle to park for free and Clifton Nurseries for their hospitality at the finish.
