July 26% better… than 2012

Better weather at the end of July provided a happy boost to footfall and volume sales in garden centres according to EPoS data supplied for the GTN Bestsellers charts.
But that couldn’t save the month in terms of year-on-year performance. The GTN All Products Index shows July sales as down 3% on last year.
That shouldn’t be considered a wash out though as the total volume reported was still better than all of the previous four years and 26% higher than July 2012.
Of the Top 50 categories analysed weekly by GTN Bestsellers, Garden Products fared best compared to 2015, down slightly at minus 0.8%, with Growing Media just behind at minus 1.0%.
Our GTN Bestsellers Plants Chart shows that plants still looking great are selling through well, and reports from centres with good sand pit beach areas are that footfall during the holiday period is healthy.
