Peter Beales Roses and Whartons Nurseries have announced a joint project to promote roses to garden centres.

Whartons MD Robert Wharton has been working closely with Beales for the past seven years to grow a range of Peter Beales-branded classic climbing and shrub roses suitable for high-end garden centre customers.

Seven varieties of each category, all in 4-litre pots, are now available for garden centres to purchase. With every order placed, free branded point of sale material will be included to assist in the promotion of this new range. The roses are available to order for delivery just ahead of this year’s RHS Chelsea Flower Show.

With more than 40 appearances already behind them, Peter Beales Roses will be exhibiting again at this year’s show. Many of the roses now available to purchase from Whartons will be used in the display they hope will earn them a 22nd Gold medal.

Ian Limmer, nursery manager at Attleborough-based Peter Beales Roses, said the project would help to get the Peter Beales’ name out to more consumers. “We regularly have customers ask whether our roses are available to purchase in their local garden centres and until now this hasn’t really been something that we have been able to offer. However, with this joint venture, we are hoping to be able to connect with gardeners searching for Peter Beales branded roses and with over 200 garden centres already expressing a keen interest in supplying the range, it confirms demand is already sizable.”
