South Staffordshire garden centre sold to local buyer

Specialist business property adviser Christie & Co has announced the sale of Pillaton Garden Centre, a well-established garden centre near Penkridge in South Staffordshire.

Set on a 5.5-acre site, the business includes plant growing facilities, a large retail area, a popular tea room/restaurant, and a customer car park. The centre has built a strong reputation in the local area for its high-quality horticultural offering, including home-grown bedding plants and shrubs, as well as its popular retail, food and beverage operation.

The centre has been family-owned for many years and has become a well-regarded destination for gardeners and visitors from across the region.

Following a sales process with Christie & Co, Pillaton Garden Centre has been acquired by Rupal Holdings Ltd as part of a wider strategic diversification to complement its existing investments in the early years and outdoor learning sectors.

Leading the acquisition, Director Sanjay Rupal commented, “We are delighted to add Pillaton Garden Centre to our portfolio. The hard work and time that the former owners have dedicated is clearly reflected in the quality of the environment and products which attract so many repeat customers from across the region. We look forward to working alongside the team at Pillaton Garden Centre to enhance the business further through a phased investment plan led by our experienced executive management team.”

Tom Glanvill, Director – Head of Leisure Brokerage at Christie & Co, managed the sale process and said, “I am delighted to have concluded the sale of Pillaton Garden Centre, which is a really lovely example of an independently-run garden centre that offers a fantastic customer experience and top-quality food.

“This sale demonstrates the strong demand for garden centres from existing entrepreneurs who are looking to diversify into other profitable businesses with strong underlying land values. I am sure the business will go from strength to strength under the new leadership.”
