Horticultural business veteran to mentor Genus Gardenwear founder

Sue O’Neil, founder of the UK’s only technical garden clothing brand Genus Gardenwear, has appointed renowned horticultural business consultant Neville Stein to help guide the next phase of the company’s development.

Founded eight years ago, Genus has established itself as the go-to brand for performance clothing tailored specifically for gardeners, landscapers, and growers. Now a thriving online retailer, the business is poised for further expansion—and Sue has brought in expert support to help shape its future.

Neville, who has been running a horticultural consultancy practice for 48 years, brings decades of experience mentoring businesses across the industry.

“Sue has created something quite unique with Genus,” said Neville. “It’s rare to see a brand so clearly positioned, with such a loyal customer base and strong potential for growth. My role is to support Sue in taking the business to the next level, developing new opportunities while staying true to what makes Genus so special.”

Sue O’Neil commented: “After eight years of building Genus from the ground up, I’m excited to be entering this new phase with Neville as my mentor. His deep knowledge of the horticultural sector and experience in growing businesses will be invaluable as we look to scale up.”

Genus has become a household name among serious gardeners and professionals, known for combining practicality, performance, and style in clothing designed to meet the demands of real outdoor work.
