The Journées des Plantes de Chantilly will return to the grounds of the Château de Chantilly from 9 to 11 October 2026 for a new season bursting with colour. This 22nd edition brings together more than 200 exhibitors, including nurserymen, horticulturists, landscape designers, artists and craftspeople, who will present a wealth of plants, tools and creations specially selected for this pivotal moment in the gardening year. This welcoming event offers inspiration, plants and expert advice to help visitors prepare their gardens for the colder months and ensure a flourishing spring.

For its 22nd edition, inspired by the theme Botanical Symphonies, the Journées des Plantes de Chantilly will celebrate the dialogue between music and the garden — two art forms composed with the same meticulous attention to rhythm, proportion and harmony.

Exhibitors will each play their own part in this composition, combining heights, textures and colours, creating contrasts and open spaces like silences in a musical score. Together, these elements invite visitors to see their gardens anew and discover the melodies hidden within them.

With the support of William Christie, founder of the Les Arts Florissants ensemble and a key figure in the Baroque music revival, the theme takes on a new dimension. The American- born conductor, now a French citizen, has spent more than three decades creating the remarkable garden at Thiré, in the Vendée, inspired by the formal gardens of the Grand Siècle, and awarded the prestigious Jardin remarquable seal of approval. For Christie, music and gardening flourish side by side: conducting an ensemble and designing a garden both require a finely tuned sense of harmony, a sure hand and the perfect accord of each part within the whole.

“Historically, gardens have always been places of pleasure. From Antiquity to the hortus conclusus, and from the Renaissance through to the seventeenth century, they have been seen as refuges where people could enjoy the finest things in life. Music has always been one of those pleasures, so it is perfectly natural to bring the two together," said William.
