The future of gardening: How do we spark a growing revolution?
|
GardenTags presents the revolutionary blogging platform and a live streamed debate series to tackle the big question posed above. An increasingly urban and ageing population, one that is not necessarily that interested in gardening, poses a significant risk to the future of gardening. So, how do we spark the next growing revolution? GardenTags believes it has the answer. The company has launched a new blogging platform and is running a live streamed debate, to enable the gardening industry to collectively solve the problem. This exciting new series looks at how we can engage future generations of gardeners through disruptive technology, community activism and a wholesale rebranding of ‘gardening’. The company’s mission is to spark ideas to start a gardening revolution. Why care? Getting young people into the garden and excited about nature could have a dramatic impact on their physical health, mental wellbeing and lead to a greater appreciation of their environment. As well as secure the future of our favourite pastime. It’s our collective responsibility to address these issues, and the blog and debate series are aimed as a “call to arms” – or a “call to spades!” – to catalyse action from everyone interested in the issues. GardenTags has already gathered together a potting shed full of great Head Gardeners – a host of top industry influencers to take part. These include the Skinny Jean Gardeners (Lee and Dale Connelly, regular guests on CBBC's Blue Peter), Jane Perrone (Gardening Editor of The Guardian and co-presenter of Sow, Grow, Repeat), Christine Walkden (of BBC’s The One Show), Sean James Cameron (The Horticulture Channel), Adam Frost (RHS Chelsea Flower Show medal winner), Sara Venn (Incredible Edible Bristol & The Physic Garden) and Michael Perry (plant hunter for Thompson & Morgan and guest presenter on QVC). They and many more will be putting their views forward on how we can collectively start the growing revolution. As part of the series we will be presenting a live streamed debate, moderated by Jane Perrone and with panellists, Skinny Jean Gardeners, Emma Worrollo – MD The Pineapple Lounge – Aga Otero – CEO Repower London (The Energy Garden) – and Adam Frost. The debate will be live streamed from the Barbican Conservatory at The Garden Press Event Dinner on 17 February. The live stream will start at 6.30pm and can be viewed at www.gardentags.com/revolution.
