Tesco have declined to confirm speculation that they might pull the plug on the planned joint Tesco/Dobbies store at East Kilbride following the supermarket’s latest profits warning.

The company is believed to be abandoning up to 100 new supermarket building projects.

A spokesman said he was not aware of any plans to abort the East Kilbride development, according to a story in the Daily Record.

South Lanarkshire Council approved the development in June after hearing that the project would create about around 400 jobs.

East Kilbride West Councillor Graham Simpson said Tesco had told him they might have news in the New Year.
