Some may feel our comment last week about the conservative tastes of traditional gardeners looks a little foolish this week with the arrival in the chart of ‘Cosmic Purple’ carrot seeds from Thompson & Morgan. It’s the highest new entry at No.38, closely tailed by the first appearance of Cucumber ‘Jogger’ from the same seedsman.
However, good old carrot ‘Early Nantes 5’ (an improved Nantes type from Suttons), is the week’s second highest re-entry, pipped at the post only by T&M’s outdoor basil (back in at No.18).
T&M are also responsible for a couple of other fast movers - tomato ‘Sweet Aperitif’, which climbs 13 places to No.7, and tomato ‘Sweet Baby’, the week’s highest climber.
