Suttons have announced what they claim is the world’s first fully blight-resistant tomato.

'Crimson Crush' (pictured) is exclusive to Suttons Seeds for 2015 and will be available to consumers through the Suttons January catalogue or on their website (www.suttons.co.uk) from 9 January.

Two resistance genes against blight, PH2 and PH3, have been bred into the variety, making it resistant to all common blight strains in UK including ‘Pink 6’ and ‘Blue 13’, which have decimated outdoor tomato crops in recent years.

It has generous yields of fine-tasting, large, round tomatoes (each weighing up to 200g) and bred for outdoor growing.
