Hopes rise after disappointing May sales figures
|
Even a bumper week leading into the Bank Holiday may not be salvation for garden centre sales in May. To date the GTN Bestsellers All Product volume sales index is running at 24% down on May last year, and from our records, only May in 2012 was worse than this.
Everyone will be hoping this hot weather spell gets people back out enjoying their gardens and buying loads of furniture, BBQs, plants and other garden products to make the most of the summer months.
What are your promotional plans for June and July? If you’ve rested on your laurels after the great start to the year now is the time to be adding in extra events and promotions to get people back to your centre. Plantarias are looking great at the moment so there is plenty of opportunity for sales provided the customers are visiting.
