We're being assured about the safety of Roundup.

The EU's refusing to renew the licence of glyphosate - the key ingredient used in 'Roundup'.

Environmental Protection Authority chief scientist Dr Jacqueline Rowarth told Rachel Smalley the EU is responding to pressure from lobby groups, public concerns and high profile campaigns.

However, she said the science shows there's no link to cancer.

"These big investigations over in America, there is no link in what they term agricultural workers and their families, they cannot see an increase in cancer," she said.

Rowarth said caffeine is 28 times more toxic than glyphosate.
