During the next week supporters of the Greenfingers Charity will take to the skies to help raise vital funds to ensure the charity can build even more gardens at children’s hospices across the country.
With 12 gardens presently enjoying the Greenfingers treatment, the bravery of these ‘high flying challengers’ will go a long way in supporting the development of these exciting new garden spaces.
August 31st sees Klondyke’s Craig Price take to the skies with nothing but a parachute (and instructor!) strapped to his back as he completes his first ever parachute jump in aid of the charity. To date, Craig has raised just shy of £1,000, an incredible achievement which will no doubt help calm his nerves on the day!
A few days later (Tuesday 3rd September), a group of four will be strapping themselves to the roof of a WWII biplane as they take on a wingwalk challenge. Taking part will be Russell Thompson, Sales Merchandiser at the AMES Companies, George Summerscales from Klondyke, and Becky Rose of JBM Sales Ltd Returning once again will be Hornby George PR’s Kimberley Hornby George, who will be taking on the terrifying loop-the-loop!
Once the flight is underway, wingwalkers will only be able to communicate with their pilot via hand signals, as the plane performs daredevil flypasts, zoom climbs, steep dives and banks in front of friends and family. Greenfingers supporters are also welcome to come along on the day to encourage these courageous souls!
Linda Petrons, Director of Fundraising & Communications at the Greenfingers Charity, said: “It never fails to amaze me just what people will do to support our work. The fact that people push their limits and face their fears all in the name of Greenfingers is so heartening and helps to promote our work to a wider audience. On behalf of all of us, particularly those that spend time in a Greenfingers garden, thank you from the bottom of our hearts! You are all amazing!”
