Garden centre grotto raises over £38,500 for hospice

Gordale Garden and Home Centre in Neston raised £38,897.86 through its annual Santa’s Grotto with the money going to local charity The Hospice of the Good Shepherd.

The grotto operated from Saturday, November 30, 2024, until Monday, December 23, 2024 and The Hospice of the Good Shepherd directly benefited from all ticket sales from the event

The grotto was  constructed by the in-store team of elves at Gordale before being handed over to the Hospice of the Good Shepherd, who staffed it with dedicated volunteers.

Gordale Garden and Home Centre has become a beloved part of the community, offering a welcoming coffee shop with homemade treats, free parking for over 500 cars, and a strong commitment to local causes.

The grotto was a key component of the Gordale Gives Back campaign to support the community during the festive season. In addition to the Charity Grotto, the friendly Gordale team organised a collection for the local food bank.

Peter Nicholson, Managing Director of Gordale Garden Centre, said: “We are proud to host the Charity Santa’s Grotto at Gordale, which is always a popular event. For many visitors, it has become an annual tradition - families enjoy the magical experience whilst supporting a local charity during the season of goodwill.”

Sam Eastwood, Community and Events Fundraiser at Hospice of the Good Shepherd, remarked: “The funds raised will have a positive impact on our patients and their families. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Gordale, our volunteers, and everyone who visited.”
