Loyal worker Maurice celebrates 50 years at Frosts

Maurice Rust, who has become a well-known face with the local community, joined Frosts Garden Centre in Woburn Sands on 8 April 1963 at the tender age of just 16, and has worked for 50 years continuously at the popular family garden centre.
When Maurice first joined the business he had a very different role to the one he holds today, with his first job requiring him to fuel the boilers to keep the glasshouses heated. Since then, Maurice has developed an outstanding knowledge of plants and gardening, and has helped thousands to make the most out of their gardens.
He has also played an important part in developing Frosts Gardening Club, and in recent years has pioneered an initiative to encourage young people to take an active interest in growing plants and vegetables through Growing Gardeners, which has over 1,000 members.
As Frosts Horticultural specialist Maurice also visits homes and schools in the local community to offer first-hand advice on how to improve their gardens, and has become a well known face to many in Woburn Sands, often referred to as ‘Mr Frost’.
This week, Maurice was presented with the award by members of the Frost family, James Frost, Jeremy Frost and Adrian Frost.
Managing Director James Frost said: “Maurice has been undoubtedly made a huge contribution to the company over the years and we owe him a great debt of gratitude for his loyal service and friendship. I would like to thank him wholeheartedly from all of us at Frosts.”
