Christies of Fochabers on family business awards shortlist

Morayshire garden centre Christies of Fochabers has been shortlisted for a business award.

Established in 1820 by Thomas Christie, the business, now run by the fifth generation of Christies, has been nominated for the Family Busness of the Year award, organised by Family Business United magazine.

The centre and its tree nursery – the largest independent family run business of its kind Scotland – is run by Christine Christie and managed by Sam Dowdall. The Forestry Nursery, run by MD Ronald Christie and his son Neal, supplies hardwood and softwood trees throughout the UK, Ireland and Europe.

“We are very proud of our family business and feel honoured to have our 194 years in business recognised”  said Ronald Christie.

The awards judging panel includes Alexander Scott (chairman of SanAire), Paul Kelly –(MD of Kellys Bronze Turkeys) and Claire Ayling (MD of Harrison Catering Services). There is also a public vote.

The awards will be announced in June at a reception in London.
