Crowd funding helps bring Christmas tree stand manufacturing back to UK

Garden Pride Marketing have successfully turned to crowd funding to bring manufacturing of their Christmas tree stands back to Sussex.

Garden Pride have supplied metalwork and other garden products to garden centres for 25 years. While they have a factory and warehouse facility in Sussex, less and less has been made there over the years. To remain competitive, more manufacturing, including the lower priced, bulk selling Christmas tree stand, was moved to the Far- East.

Now crowd funding through Funding Circle has enabled them to introduce an innovative manufacturing method that makes it cost effective to produce the stands in the UK once more.

MD Stephen Vincent said: “Twenty-five years ago I started making Christmas tree stands in an old chicken shed and then later expanded into an industrial unit. Eventually the bulk of the manufacturing went to the Far-East so that we could remain competitive. Now, with this funding and our new state of the art manufacturing methods I am very proud to say that not only are the UK manufactured Christmas tree stands competitive with the Far East imports again but we can now beat them on price! We are looking forward to the 2015 Christmas period, which starts for us now!”
