Sallyanne leads Taylors Bulbs team to show triumph

Taylors Bulbs was awarded a Premier Gold Award at Harrogate Spring Flower Show for its display of more than 1500 individual daffodil blooms across 50 different cultivars.

Displayed in bowls, the blooms were taken from the range of more than 500 different daffodils grown by Taylors at Holbeach in Lincolnshire.

The team is led by Sallyanne Foreman who normally runs the customer services department at Taylors.  Sallyanne said; “I am delighted with the award, particularly as it has been a tough year because the flowers came early and holding them for long enough in the cold store was very difficult.  There were plenty of tears this morning when we received the award.”

Sallyanne and her team – Rebecca Brookhouse, Hayley Taylor, Paul French and Matthew Haynes – spend many hours walking the fields through the flowering period, picking stems by hand before placing them in cold store.  The display takes two days to build,  during which time many stems are thrown away if they do not meet Sallyanne’s exacting standards.

Adam Taylor added; “I know the team have worked really hard and I am so very pleased for them all that they have received this recognition from the judges at the show.  Sallyanne has stepped up to lead the team and she has done a terrific job.  We were cheering in the office this morning!”

The Harrogate Spring Flower Show, run by the North of England Horticultural Society, finishes today (Sunday 28 April)
