25th gold for David Austin Roses at "very special" Chelsea

World-leading rose breeder, David Austin Roses is proud to be awarded a gold medal at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, the 25th in its history of exhibiting at the prestigious show.

The Secret Garden themed display features a beautifully fluid, circular design, at the heart of which two striking new characters from David Austin’s English Rose collection are to be seen in bloom for the first time. A true feast for the senses, Rosa Eustacia Vye (Ausegdon) and Rosa Gabriel Oak(Auscrowd) – both named after beloved characters from Thomas Hardy’s works - create a stunning centrepiece of scent and colour in a setting befitting a moment of quiet reflection.

David Austin, Managing Director, commented: “Chelsea is always a very special occasion for us and this year it is particularly so, as the first since my father’s passing. I’m sure Mr A would have been both humbled by and proud of this significant achievement - our 25th gold medal. The award really is testament to the decades of hard work and dedication that have gone into creating the very best roses. It is also wonderful acknowledgment of these exquisite plants and a true reflection of their on-going popularity in all their variations.”
