The hot and sunny month of July helped to increase sales of solar lighting as gardeners took advantage of the weather to spend more time outdoors during the evenings.

In this week’s GTN Bestsellers Garden Products Chart there are 12 lighting items in the Top 50 with most of them being solar-powered.

Gardman have two products in the Top 10 – Ice Orb Solar Light and Solar Mosaic Border Lights. Smart Solar also figure highly with their Flutterby Hummingbird/Fairy showing a 50% increase in sales and their Butterfly Silhouette Stake Light coming back into the Top 50.

The highest climber in the chart is Growth Technology’s Orchid Myst, jumping 20 places. The highest re-entry is Gardman Pressure Treated Softwood Round Tree Stake, suggesting that gardeners are starting to think about tree planting or are having to support trees buffeted by some strong winds of late.

The hot weather has also been bringing out the ants and wasps because Vitax have two Nippon products in the chart – Nippon Puffer and Nippon Wasp Nest Foam.

Scotts Levington Tomorite retains top spot.
