Wyevale showcases Amenity/Landscape stand at Four Oaks

Wyevale Nurseries in Hereford is this month taking its first Amenity/Landscape focused stand to the Four Oaks Trade Show. The company will be showcasing its extensive range of plant material grown for the amenity market, landscape contractors, garden designers and trade nurseries at the show on September 8 and 9. Adam Dunnett (pictured), Sales and Marketing Director at Wyevale Nurseries, said: “We’re so excited to be having our first Amenity/Landscape focused stand at the Four Oaks Trade Show in Macclesfield. “Last year saw a resurgence in the residential and the related construction market, the biggest since 2008, demanding a top quality finished product supplied to very tight deadlines. “Shorter lead times and the move from winter planting to all year round often means that where a field grown product was required the same product must now be sought in container. One of our strengths is that we can offer an equivalent all year round supply of product. “At the trade show special focus will be given to our container tree product as a point of difference. This range is particularly useful as a lead in for field grown stock, covering the gap in supply, expanding the planting season. “Pleached trees and true multi stems will be exhibited along with pre-formed hedging in troughs for instant impact planting solutions. Visitors to the show will be able to see for themselves samples from our ‘Select’ tree range – varieties we have developed to produce strong much improved forms of their predecessors.” Product development and innovation is always a top priority at Wyevale Nurseries and customers can be assured of an ever evolving range in both variety type and presentation form. Adam added: “We are the only one of the larger UK nurseries that actually grows the whole range of nursery stock – basic field-grown seedlings and transplants through to standard trees, both field and containerised, the whole range of container ornamentals, topped off with specimens. We pay attention to the detail – seed provenance selection, new varieties, production methods and all grown to the National Plant Specification Standards. “Thus we are in the best position to supply the trade, having something of everything here actually growing on-site, ready for spontaneous demand. Heading each of the production divisions is a Director with more than 25 years’ experience of growing at Wyevale. We are a wholesale nursery, with a sales team and nationwide transport to match. We are up for one-off supply or a regular delivery schedule.” Wyevale Nurseries is one of the largest family-run wholesale nurseries in the UK. It was established in 1930 by Harry Williamson, a horticulturist and entrepreneur. It became the company it is today under the leadership of his son, Peter, who sadly passed away in 2011. The Williamsons’ saw the opportunity to sell their product to an undeveloped retail market, creating one of the first garden centres, followed by a chain. In 1987, the retail side needed to expand and the 19 garden centres were sold as a PLC. The family then turned its focus to Wyevale Nurseries Ltd. It continues to be a family-run business with ownership and joint chairmanship currently being held by the third generation, Heather and Simeon Williamson, with plans for the fourth generation to takeover in the future. Wyevale Nurseries has a significant product range and is regularly introducing new plants. It offers a large variety of trees, shrubs, hedging, herbaceous and specimen plants to garden centres, landscape contractors, local authorities, foresters and landowners.
