GTN Bestsellers predicts 15% volume sales increase at garden centres

Volume sales in garden centres are on track to end the year 15% up, as predicted by GTN Bestsellers three weeks ago. This week’s volume increase of 20%, coupled with a weather forecast that doesn’t mention snow at all through to Christmas, puts us in the best possible place to end the year on a really big high.

Gardening products are doing well with the GTN Bestsellers Top 50 up 17% on the same week last year, while the Christmas Top 50 is down by 10%. This appears to be more a reflection of reduced sales of some of the bestsellers as the overall range and number of Christmas products sold goes up every week – there’s just so many great things for customers to choose from.

We’ll be keeping a look out as we visit the 200 plus garden centre teams that have entered The Greatest Christmas Awards for new bestselling lines – so stay tuned. The Greatest Awards team will certainly be hoping for good weather as they eat up the miles meeting everyone.

GTN Bestsellers Top 50 sales volumes compared to the same week last year:

  • Garden Products – up 17%
  • Christmas – down 10%
  • Growing Media – up 44%
  • All items index – up 20%
