Squire’s Garden Centres has made a donation to Greenfingers Charity from the sale of carrier bags in its 16 centres over the last year, with a total amount raised of £6,707.
Garden charity, Greenfingers, is dedicated to supporting children who spend time in hospices around the UK, with the aim of creating inspiring gardens for them and their families to relax in and benefit from. Squire’s donation is the result of sale of its compostable carrier bags over the last year, with the entire charge (20p) for each bag donated to the charitable cause (net of VAT).
Sarah Squire, Chairman of Squire’s Garden Centres, comments: “We are so pleased to continue our support of Greenfingers Charity with our donation from the sale of our carrier bags. Our bags are home-compostable, in support of our continued drive for more sustainable ways of working, and this has been tremendously well-received by our customers.
“We know the benefits that gardening and being at one with nature can bring. Through the inspiring garden projects Greenfingers champion, many families in real need will be able to benefit from being surrounded by plants and nature. It’s good news the government carrier bag charge can be directed into projects and activities that bring benefit to families through horticulture.
“Greenfingers Charity does such incredibly valuable work and we look forward to learning about the new projects they are planning which will support patients and families at such a critical time.”
Linda Petrons, Director, Fundraising & Communications at Greenfingers Charity, comments: “We are delighted to receive the fantastic donation from Squire’s Garden Centres. It will help us in our journey to continue creating stimulating garden spaces that help bring an array of benefits to children with life-limiting conditions, making a significant difference. Our projects enable families to spend precious time together close to nature, which is incredibly valued by families we support.”
