As many expected, garden centre sales volumes did drop after all other retail was able to re-open at the end of Lockdown 2. But they only dropped to the same levels for the same week last year after setting a new winter week record at the end of November.
The drop was across the board in the Epos data analysed by GTN for the weekly Bestsellers chart. Growing media, however, was the only sector to report sales up on the same week last year.
If your teams haven’t yet made an entry into GTN’s Greatest Christmas Awards, now’s the time to make sure photos are taken so that the entry can be sent to trevor@pottingshedpress.co.uk by December 31st.
There’s over £7,000 worth of prizes to be won this year so it’s well worth making an entry. See full details in December’s issue of GTN and in GTN Xtra: www.gardentradenews.co.uk
