Cyclamen topple Pelargoniums as bestselling plant
For the first time since April, when we started our GTN Bestsellers Plants Chart, Pelargomiums are not the No 1 bestselling plant genus in garden centres.
That accolade has passed on to Cyclamen as mini Cyclamen for autumn bedding sell through in high volumes straight away.
Cyclamen outsold Pelargoniums by 70% and moved up 19 places as sales of the spring and summer bestseller started to wain and customers move their buying and planting to instant autumn colour.
Jonathan Burden of JB Plants told GTN Bestsellers: “I’m amazed they are selling so well already, but gardeners must be looking for new things to plant and keep colour and interest going beyond the summer.”
Elsewhere in the GTN Plants chart impressive sales increases for Imperata, Miscanthus, Asters and Anenome see them enter the Top 50.
