Staff rate Notcutts as Best Employer in regional awards

Notcutts Garden Centres has received a Best Employers Award in the Eastern Region, recognising the positive colleague engagement at its garden centres in Peterborough, Brampton, Norwich and Woodbridge, and its support office.

Pure and Eras created the Best Employers Eastern Region initiative to identify and promote the region’s best employers. This initiative is sponsored by law firm Birketts and 490 regional businesses took part in the survey, with 30 per cent of the top performing businesses qualifying to enter the awards as a result.

Notcutts joined around 170 local professionals at the Best Employers Eastern Region Awards event hosted in Newmarket on 19 October. Notcutts’ survey data was compared to previous years, as well as data from other organisations with similar employee numbers.

In their survey results, Notcutts colleagues demonstrated a strong emphasis on building and maintaining customer relationships and identifying customers’ needs, scoring 9.2 out of 10 in this area. Notcutts colleagues also scored highly for personal engagement, teamwork, motivation, clarity of the company’s vision and goals, and a strong understanding of brand values.

Colleagues selected ‘Teamwork’ and ‘Customer Focus’ as the values that are most important to them personally. They also selected the same values for Notcutts as a business, illustrating a strong alignment between individuals and the company.

Sarah Dempsey, HR Director, Notcutts, said: “We’re thrilled to have won the Best Employers Award for Hospitality and Retail in the Eastern Region. Our colleagues in all 19 of our garden centres and at our support office complete a survey every year.

“We believe it’s vital to invest in our colleagues, to take time to understand their perception of Notcutts, and to support everyone on every level, so that they can continue to deliver brilliant experiences for our customers.”
