Intrepid Evergreen Garden Care team hits £30k target for Greenfingers

A 15-person team at Evergreen Garden Care took on the daunting National Three Peaks Challenge, attempting to summit the three tallest mountains in the UK within 24 hours. This ambitious goal was in support of Greenfingers Charity, who work to build gardens at children’s hospices throughout the UK.

Weather was on their side as they pushed through the incredibly difficult challenge and now, a couple of months later, they have hit their incredible fundraising goal of £30,000 for Greenfingers Charity.

The team undertook a year-long training programme in order to give their best on the day, including climbing some of the steepest hills across the country over and over again throughout the August heatwave and taking up residence in local gyms on the stair machine.

The amount raised will go directly to support a specific part of the gardens being built on the ground of The Nook, a children’s hospice in Norfolk. The funds will enable the building of The Nest, a cosy spot where families and loved ones will be able to spend precious time in nature with their children.

Jessica Nicholson, organiser of the Evergreen Three Peaks Challenge, said: “The challenge was so tough and really pushed us all to our limits, both physically and mentally, but ultimately brought us all closer together as a team. Hard not to when you spend 24 hours together on a coach! We all loved every second of the challenge and we’re proud to support such an important cause, providing green spaces to The Nook. As you can see from the photos, we couldn’t have been luckier with the weather!”

“Congratulations to all the team who participated in the challenge: Jess Nicholson, Nic Griffin, Kev Gwilliams, Sally Flavell-Smith, Ian Jones, Jane Hartley, Anya Yarmakovich, Hannah Mulvey, Jayne Horswill, Kirsty Taylor, Charlotte Webster, Vicki Kennard, Mateusz Lisiecki, Gemma Stephenson, Jimmy Dougherty.”
