Plant sales so far this year have matched 2021 levels, despite the poor weather weeks of March which led to the month being 23% down on 2021.
And, most importantly, volume sales year to date are up 19% on 2019 levels and for the the month of March they were up by 23% on 2019 levels.
The weather will undoubtedly have a say on April’s plant sales, but given that stocks appear to be high in planterias, with good supply levels coming through, including from Europe, we could be set for a great season of plant sales and gardening activity.
As with last year Tomato plants moved to the Top of the GTN plants chart as Primula sales drop off post Mother’s Day.
Lobelia were the highest chart climber, up 14 places to No 24.
Dicentra were the highest Top 50 Plants re-entry, back in at No 32.
